Swanage of Olde
Highcliffe, Swanage |

Prospect Farm Swanage. The post card
says Swanage Road but we now know it as Victoria Avenue, the Horse
Chestnut Trees were planted to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond
Jubilee in 1897. The road was also known previously as Eldon Road and
the farm and house were part of the Encombe Estate. The house was
believed to have been built circa 1810-20 and was occupied by 4
generations of Smiths from 1879 to 1999 as tenant dairy farmers. Jean Smith |
