This is the old school house in Sturminster Marshall. It was used until the present school was built in 1911. In the 1950's it was used as a Sunday School.

White Mill.  Present building dates back to 1776,on a site marked in the Domesday Book. Repaired in 1994 and now owned by the National Trust

"This old post card of Sturminster Marshall is taken on the corner of Balls Lane. In the foreground is the farm yard that was there in the 1950s. I remember there being a bull tethered right by that gate. A huge great beast with a ring through his nose. What is interesting about this postcard is that it is all gone now and in it's place is a bungalow."

Walter George RANDELL 1892 - 1969

Son of George Burt and Caroline RANDELL nee KENT

Mary Ann KENT nee CLARK born 1834 Bere Regis  died 1923 Sturminster Marshall. Married James KENT and had 15 children. This is a quote from her niece, "She was an illegitimate child, and suffered much from it. She was not raised by her mother, who later married and had other children, but by an aunt.

The marriage between William PIKE and Kathleen RANDELL. 1923 Sturminster Marshall. Left to right;    Daisy SWYER, Walter George RANDELL, William Henry PIKE, Kathleen Maud RANDELL, George Burt RANDELL and Laura KENT.  Daisy and Laura were cousins of the bride. Walter was the bride's brother and Geoge was the brides father.  All except William who was from Blandford, were born and lived in Sturminster Marshall

Robert EVERETT (born 1863), his wife Clara (nee DERRIMEN) and first born Ethel  (born 1887)  baby Arthur (born 1888)

Robert and Arthur EVERETT. It is believed Robert was employed at White Mill. Arthur became a baker-confectioner and at the age of 14 was sent to London as an apprentice. The family left Sturminster Marshall between 1891 and 1901 and moved to Winton.

The marriage of George BILES and Edith Minnie HOBBS in 1922. The photograph shows many other villagers. Can anyone identify any of the other residents shown? (Click for larger version)
