The Union Workhouse is sometimes given as Beaminster and sometimes as Stoke Abbott. It is the same place and located
between the two villages. There are some extra notes in the register margins for fees paid, waived and reduced for the burial
of non parishoners. Please consult registers for these. Also note slight name changes and inconsistencies in spelling: eg
Staple/ Staples, Hillier/Hellier, Simes/Symes, Stoodley/Studley, Harhood/Harwood, Ivey /Ivory, as well as several aliases.
