This is the Last Will and Testament of me Robert WHITE of Haselbury Bryan in the County of Dorset, Yeoman as follows.
First I give, devise and bequeath unto my nephew George TOREVELL, the youngest son of George TOREVELL, the Elder of Haselbury Bryan aforesaid Yeoman, all that close or parcel of pasture ground called Eight Acres, containing by estimation eight acres more or less, adjoining to a certain ffield called Ffurze Hill, late part of Hewletts, situtate, lying and being in the hamlet of Woodrow in the parish of Haselbury Bryan aforesaid and lately purchased by me of the Reverend John Willis BURROUGH, to hold unto the said George TOREVELL the younger, his heirs and assigns forever.
Also I give, devise and bequeath unto my nephew Joseph TOREVELL, one other of the sons of the said George TOREVELL the Elder, all those two clover pieces or parcels of inclosed land or ground commonly called or known by the names of Higher and Lower Hills, situate, lying and being in the said parish of Haselbury Bryan and lately purchased by me of Richard POPE and Robert POPE, to hold unto the said Joseph TOREVELL, his heirs and assigns forever. Subject nevertheless to and charged and chargeable with the payment of thirty pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to my niece Christian TOREVELL and also with the payment of ten pounds of like lawful money, to my niece Ann TOREVELL, the two daughters of the said George TOREVELL the Elder, to be -- due and payable to them out of the said two closes, pieces or parcels of inclosed land or ground called Higher and Lower Hills, in twelve months next after my decease, with the payment of which said two sums of thirty pounds and ten pounds, I do hereby subject and charge the same and my Will and meaning is and I do hereby direct that the residuum of my lands, personal estate and effects or any part thereof or my Executor herein after named, shall not be subject to or charged or chargeble with the payment of the said two sums of thirty pounds and ten pounds.
Also I give, devise and bequeath unto my said niece Ann TOREVELL, all that close, piece or parcel of inclosed land or ground (now or late meadow) commonly called or known by the name of Brooklands, containing by estimation three acres and half (more or less) situate, lying and being in the parish of Haselbury Bryan aforesaid and lately purchased by me of the said Richard POPE and Robert POPE, to hold unto the said Ann TOREVELL, her heirs and assigns forever.
Also I give, devise and bequeath unto my said niece Christian TOREVELL, one other of the daughters of the said George TOREVELL the Elder, all that close, piece or parcel of inclosed land or ground, commonly called or known by the name of Church Thorn, situate, lying and being (near a lane called Church Lane) in the parish of Haselbury Bryan aforesaid, containing by estimation two acres more or less and lately purchased by me of the said Richard POPE and Robert POPE, to hold unto the said Christian TOREVELL, her heirs and assigns forever.
Also I give and bequeath unto my nephew Robert PHIPPARD, all that my leasehold estate, situate, lying and being in the parish of Okeford Ffitzpaine in the said County of Dorset, with the appurtenances thereunto belonging, to hold unto the said Robert PHIPPARD, his executors, administrators and assigns for and during all my estate, forms and interest, which shall be therein then to come and unexpired.
Also I give and bequeath unto my said nephew the said Robert PHIPPARD, all sum and sums of money which shall be due and owing to me from him at the time of my decease. And I Will and direct that the securities given or to be given by him to me for payment of the same, be cancelled and delivered up by my Executor herein after named and immediately after my decease.
Also I give, devise and bequeath unto my niece Ann TOREVELL, wife of John TOREVELL of Haselbury Bryan aforesaid Yeoman, all that messuage or tenement and garden with the appurtenances thereunto belonging, situate at Wonston in the parish of Haselbury Bryan aforesaid, lately purchased by me of (blank) CHAFFEY. And also all that close, piece or parcel of inclosed land or ground, commonly called or known by the name of Barley Close, situate, lying and being in the parish of Haselbury Bryan aforesaid, containing by estimation two acres more or less, with the appurtenances and lately purchased by me of the said Richard POPE and Robert POPE, to hold the said messuage or tenement and garden and close, piece or parcel of inclosed land or ground with the appurtenances unto the said Ann TOREVELL, her heirs and assigns forever.
Also I give, devise and bequeath unto my nephew Robert STRANGE, son of John STRANGE the Elder, now or late of Ibberton in the said County, Yeoman, all that my undivided moiety or half part and all other my estate and interest of and in all the meadow ground commonly called or known by the name of Ryallmoor, containing by estimation five acres more or less, with the appurtenances thereunto belonging, situate, lying and being in the parish of Ibberton aforesaid, to hold unto my said nephew the said Robert STRANGE, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns forever or for and during all my estate, term and interest therein.
Also I give, devise and bequeath unto my said nephew the said Robert STRANGE and unto my sister (and his Mother) Susanna STRANGE, all that my undivided two third parts and all other my estate and interest of and in all that meadow ground commonly called or known by the name of Townsend, containing by estimation, six acres more of less, situtate, lying and being in the parish of Shillingstone, otherwise Shilling Okeford, in the said County of Dorset. To hold unto the said Robert STRANGE and Susanna STRANGE, their heirs and assigns forever, equally to be divided between them, share and share alike.
Also I give and bequeath unto my nephew Thomas STRANGE, one other of the sons of the said John STRANGE the Elder, all that messuage or tenement, garden, orchard and pasture ground thereunto adjoining, containing by estimation thirteen acres more or less, situate, lying and being in the parish of Haselbury Bryan aforesaid, together with four beast? leazes? in the common and ffeedings in the lanes within the parish of Haselbury Bryan aforesaid, with the appurtenances thereunto belonging which said messuage or tenement and premises I lately purchased of the said John Willis BURROUGH, to hold the said messuage or tenement, garden, orchard and pasture ground and premises with the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto my said nephew, the said Thomas STRANGE his heirs and assigns forever.
Also I give and bequeath unto my said nephew, the said Thomas STRANGE, ten of my best milk cows to be delivered unto him by my Executor hereinafter named, immediately after my decease. Also I give and bequeath unto my said sister the said Susanna STRANGE all that messuage, tenement or dwelling house and backside with the appurtenances thereunto belonging, situate, lying and being in Throop in the parish of Haselbury Bryan aforesaid and lately purchased by me of Christopher DYKE. To hold unto my said sister Susanna STRANGE for and during the term of her natural life and from and immediately after her decease, I give, devise and bequeath the said last mentioned messuage, tenement or dwelling house and backside, with the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto my said nephew, the said Thomas STRANGE, for and during the term of his natural life and after his decease, to the heirs of the body of the said Thomas STRANGE, lawfully begotten. And in default of such --- to my said nephew the said Robert STRANGE, his heirs and assigns forever.
Also I give and bequeath unto my said sister the said Susanna STRANGE, all that my leasehold estate, situate, lying and being in the parish of Shilling Okeford aforesaid, with the appurtenances thereunto belonging and lately purchased by me of John DREW and Christian his wife. To hold unto the said Susanna Strange, her executors, administrators and assigns for and during all my estate, form and interest therein.
And in case my estate and interest of and in the said last mentioned leasehold estate shall cease and determine in the lifetime of my said sister Susanna STRANGE, that then and in such case, I give and bequeath unto my said sister Susanna STRANGE, one annuity or yearly rent charge of six pounds a year for and during the term of her natural life, free and clear of and from all disbursments whatsoever, to be paid her by equal half yearly payments by my Executor hereinafter named, the first payment to begin and be made at the end of the first six months next after the determination of my estate and interest, with the payment of which said annuity, I do hereby expressly charge and subject the residuum of my lands and personal estate herein after given and devised unto my said Executor.
Also I give and bequeath unto my said sister Susanna STRANGE, one annuity or yearly rent charge of ten pounds for and during the term of her natural life, to be paid her half yearly by my Executor herein after named, the first payment to begin and be made at the end of the first six months next after my decease, with the payment of the same. I do hereby expressly charge and subject my leasehold estate situate in the parish of Haselbury Bryan aforesaid, commonly called Haselbury Ffarm and lately purchased by me of Messrs CROWDY and HEWIT.
Also I give and bequeath unto my said sister Susanna STRANGE a moiety or half part of all my household goods, ffurniture and dairy utensils and also the sum of thirty pounds of lawful money, to be paid her by my Executor hereinafter named in six months next after my decease.
Also I give and bequeath unto my sister Christian TOREVELL, to my niece Betty otherwise Elizabeth HAYDON, widow, to my niece Mary VALINCE, wife of Andrew VALINCE of the town and County of Poole and to my niece Christian BULLEN, wife of John BULLEN, their several executors and administrators, the sum of one hundred pounds each of lawful money of Great Britain.
Also to my said nephew Robert STRANGE, the sum of twenty pounds of like lawful money, all which said last mentioned five legacies, I do hereby direct shall be paid by my Executor hereinafter named in two years next after my decease.
Also I give and bequeath unto Joseph HAYDON, one of the sons of the said Betty, otherwise Elizabeth HAYDON, the sum of thirty pounds of like lawful money, to be paid by my said Executor, in manner following (that is to say) ten pounds part thereof to put him out an apprentice immediately after my decease. And the remaining twenty pounds to be paid him as soon as he shall attain his age of twenty one years.
Also I give and bequeath unto James HAYDON and (blank) HAYDON, the two youngest sons of the said Betty, otherwise Elizabeth HAYDON, the sum of ten pounds each of like lawful money, to be paid them by my said Executor in twelve months next after my decease.
Also I give to twenty poor persons of the said parish of Haselbury Bryan, the sum of ffive pounds to be distributed amongst them in such manner as my said Executor shall think proper.
Also I give and bequeath unto the said Andrew VALINCE and John BULLEN, all sum and sums of money which shall be due and owing from them or either of them, to me at the time of my decease and I Will and direct that all securities given by them or either of them to me for the payment thereof be cancelled and delivered up to them by my said Executor immediately after my decease.
And all the rest, residue and remainder of my estates, lands, tenements, hereditaments and premises with their several appurtenances, situate, lying and being in the parish of Haselbury Bryan aforesaid or else wherein the said County of Dorset and all my monies, securities for money, goods, chattels, stock, personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature or kindsoever, the same may be and all other my estates and effects whatsoever (not hereinbefore by me given, willed, devised or bequeathed) which I shall be possessed of, interested in or intitled unto at the time of my decease, I give, devise and bequeath the same and every part, parcel and member thereof, unto my nephew John STRANGE of Haselbury Bryan, aforesaid Yeoman, one of the sons of my said sister Susanna STRANGE, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns forever, subject nevertheless to a charge of and chargeable as aforesaid.
And I do hereby make, nominate, constitute and appoint my said nephew, the said John STRANGE, sole Executor and Residuary Legatee of this my Last Will and Testament.
And I do hereby revoke and make void all former and other Wills by me at any time theretofore made, declaring this only to be my Last Will and Testament.
In witness whereof, I the said Robert WHITE the Testator, have to this my Last Will and Testament, contained in three sheets of paper, set my hand and seal (that is to say) to the two first sheets my hand and to the last sheet my hand and seal, the eleventh day of July in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and eighty nine.

Signed, sealed, published and declared by the said Testator Robert WHITE, as and for his Last Will and Testament, in the sight and presence of us, who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other, have subscribed our names as witnesses, to his so doing.

On the 23rd day of November 1797, the foregoing Will of Robert WHITE deceased, was proved by the oath of John STRANGE, nephew of the said deceased and sole Executor therein named, to whom Administration of all and singular the goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased was granted, he being first duly sworn well and faithfully to administer the same, to exhibit a true and perfect inventory thereof into the Registry of the Court of the Archdeacon of Dorset and to render a just account thereon when thereto lawfully required and that the whole of the goods, chattles and credits of the said Robert WHITE deceased, did not amount in value at the time of his death to the sum of one thousand pounds.
