Last Will and Testament of John Doggrell

Signed on 23rd October 1830 and Proved on 4th January 1834

This is the last will and testament of me JOHN DOGGRELL of Gillingham - Yeoman. I give devise unto and bequeath unto my friends Edward Neave and John Read, both of Gillingham aforesaid, gentlemen All my messuages, lands tenements and hereditments and all other my real estate to which I am beneficially entitled or of which I have power to dispose together with my household goods and furniture monies chattels and effects real all and singular other my personal estate. To hold to them the said Edward Neave and John Read their heirs executors administrators and assigns upon the trusts following that is to say upon trust during the lifetime of my dear wife to permit her to receive and take the rents issues and profits of the same estates respectively that from and after the decease of my said wife I give and devise all that my dwelling house wherein I reside together with that part of the garden lying between the apple tree now standing therein and the said dwelling house unto my three daughters Mary, Sarah and Margaret to hold to them and their heirs and assigns forever as tenants in common and not as joint tenants that from and after the decease of my said wife I give and devise unto my son John all that newly erected cottage or dwelling house lately built in the lane together with that part of the garden lying between the said cottage and the apple tree aforementioned to hold unto my son John his heirs and assigns forever. I give and devise unto my son Thomas all that dwelling house wherein he now resides together with the stable outbuildings, garden, orchard and other appurtenances to the same belonging and situate and being in Ham Common to hold to my said son Thomas his heirs and assigns forever that as to all the rest, residue and remainder of my real and personal estate hereinbefore given in trust for the benefit of my said dear wife for life. I give devise and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto and equally to be divided between my several children herein before named and my grandchild Lucy Willis share and share alike and to ensure an equal distribution of the same. I hereby authorize my said Trustees or the survivor of them or the heirs executors administrators or assigns of such survivor as soon as conveniently may be after the decease of my said wife to make sale and dispose of all such parts thereof as shall not consist of money either by public auction or private contract.

That lastly I do hereby make, constitute and appoint the said Edward Neave and John Read Executors in Trust of this my Will hereby revoking all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made and to declare this my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I the said John Doggrell have to this my last Will and Testament contained in this and the preceding sheet of paper set my hand and seal to this last sheet this
